Actress-turned-politician Niña Jose-Quiambao on Wednesday addressed comments about her recent weight loss and slimmer appearance, saying she has no illness.
The Bayambang, Pangasinan mayor recently drew attention online after several netizens noticed her noticeably skinny appearance in photos.
In a social media post on Wednesday, she thanked those who engaged with her post, including those who criticized her appearance.
“Thank you for the engagement guys, kahit nega yung iba nagulat ako dahil lang sa picture ko pa talaga hahaha,” she wrote.
In the same post, Jose-Quiambao clarified that she is not suffering from any illness and said losing weight was simply her personal goal.
“Wala akong sakit, sadyang gusto ko lang maging skinny,” she said.
“Goal ko nga si Corpse Bride eh hahaha jooooke,” she added.
The mayor also joked that despite more pressing issues, her appearance became a topic of discussion.
“Sa dami ng ibang pressing matters, yung itsura ko pa talaga ang pinag-uusapan hahaha. Nakaka-touch din. Salamat,” she wrote.
The mayor also poked fun at the different nicknames she has received as her appearance changed over the years—from “aparador” when she was heavier, to “chimchamchu” when her face became lighter, and “kalansay” or “tarsier” over her recent slimmer appearance.
She ended her message with a reminder to her followers: “Sa dami ng gulo sa mundo, let us remember to Live. Laugh and Love.”
