

Ateneo de Manila University has announced that the wake of late student-athlete Chukwuemeka Divine Adili will be transferred to Arlington Memorial Chapels in Araneta Avenue, Quezon City starting June 17, 2026, as part of preparations for the repatriation of his remains in accordance with the wishes of his family.
In a social media statement, the university said the wake will be open daily from 12 noon to 8 p.m., with Masses to be celebrated at 5 p.m. for the late athlete.
"As part of the preparations for repatriation and in accordance with the wishes of the Adili family, the venue of the wake for Chukwuemeka Divine Adili, beloved Ateneo student and athlete, will be moved to Arlington Memorial Chapels, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City, beginning 17 June 2026," Ateneo said in its post.
The university also extended prayers for Adili, asking for eternal rest for the young athlete.
"Eternal rest grant unto Divine, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace," the statement added.
Adili and fellow Ateneo student-athlete Rene Baterbonia died on June 8, 2026, in a drowning incident during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora, according to earlier reports. The university has since expressed deep grief and continues to support the families and the Ateneo community as arrangements for memorial services proceed.
