Incumbent Vice President Sara Duterte said she is studying the possibility of filing additional complaints against several individuals over what her camp described as malicious accusations against her, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
In an interview with DZRH, her legal counsel Atty. Paolo Panelo Jr. said they are considering filing charges of perjury or cyber libel against certain personalities, whom he did not identify.
Panelo emphasized that the Vice President would no longer remain silent in the face of what he called misinformation and baseless allegations.
“That’s the message that we want to send to everybody: VP Sara will not take sitting down anymore malicious accusations against her,” Panelo said.
On Wednesday, Duterte personally filed a perjury complaint before the prosecutors’ office in Taguig City against Ramil Madriaga, who had introduced himself as her former “bagman.”
Madriaga earlier claimed that he personally delivered large sums of money to several individuals upon Duterte’s instructions when she was still serving as Education Secretary.
He also accused the Vice President of receiving campaign funds in 2022 from alleged drug lords and Philippine offshore gaming operators.
Yesterday, the House Committee on Justice concluded their deliberations regarding the impeachment complaints against Duterte which gained a majority of 54 votes amongst the panel.
The Vice President is set to receive a formal notice regarding the decision of the justice panel and will be given 10 days to submit her response.
