Vice President Sara Duterte declined to comment on the planned establishment of an artificial intelligence (AI) hub in Capas, Tarlac, under the US-led Pax Silica initiative.
In an interview in The Hague, Netherlands, Duterte was asked about her reaction to the proposed project.
“Ano-no? Fax sili? F*cks silic?” Duterte said.
“Wala, no. I cannot comment on that,” she added.
To recall, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. previously highlighted the Pax Silica Industrial Hub during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27, saying the project will generate quality jobs, strengthen the country’s competitiveness, and help revitalize the Philippine economy.
Marcos also said the planned industrial hub will establish an ecosystem centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies.
“A product of the 23-member strong and US-led Pax Silica Initiative, the Pax Silica Industrial Hub will create an ecosystem that will have AI at its core,” Marcos said.
“Pax Silica data center will bring quality jobs to our people and accelerate our industrial competitiveness, and revitalize our economy,” he said.
The initiative aims to establish a 1,620-hectare industrial hub in New Clark City, Tarlac, focusing on artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and semiconductor supply chains as part of the Luzon Economic Corridor.
