Vice President Sara Duterte paid tribute to mothers and mother figures on Mother’s Day, recognizing their sacrifices, strength, and vital role in every Filipino family.

In her message released Sunday, the Vice President extended her heartfelt greetings to all mothers, including those who stand as mothers in their households.

“As a mother, alam ko ang bigat at saya ng ating tungkulin—the silent prayers we offer for our children, the long hours we spend ensuring they are safe, and the constant effort it takes to balance work and family,” Duterte said.

She described motherhood as one of the most challenging yet rewarding responsibilities any woman can take, noting that mothers serve as the first teachers of their children, a source of comfort in times of need, and the foundation of Filipino families.

The Vice President also honored overseas Filipino worker (OFW) mothers for the sacrifices they endure while working abroad to provide for their families.

“To our OFW mothers, we know that sacrifice is not always about physical presence—sometimes, the greatest sacrifice is the distance you endure to provide for your family,” she said.

Duterte thanked mothers for their unwavering love and care, while encouraging Filipinos to continue loving the country “for God, for the nation, and for every Filipino family.”
