Vice President Sara Duterte visited the graves of her grandparents, Vicente and Soledad Duterte, as part of the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day during Undas.
Duterte offered prayers for her grandparents’ souls and wished them eternal peace, according to her social media post on Monday.
In her post, the vice president quoted Revelation 21:4 from the Bible, which speaks of a time when there will be no more death, sorrow, crying or pain.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away,” the verse reads.
Undas is an annual Filipino tradition in which families visit cemeteries to honor and remember their departed loved ones through prayers, flowers and other offerings.
