Vice President Sara Duterte released an official statement on Monday, March 30, calling on Filipinos to reflect on the true meaning of life through service and sacrifice during the observance of Holy Week.

“Ang Semana Santa ay isang sagradong bahagi ng ating pagka-Pilipino… ang tunay na kahulugan ng buhay ay matatagpuan sa paglilingkod sa kapwa,” Duterte said, emphasizing the importance of selfless dedication to others as a reflection of faith.

She highlighted the sacrifices of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), particularly those in the Middle East, and prayed for their safety amid ongoing challenges.

“Kinikilala natin ang sakripisyo ng ating mga kababayan… hinihiling natin ang kapayapaan sa kanilang kinalalagyan,” she said.

Duterte urged citizens to use this period of reflection to assess their personal goals, family priorities, and contributions to the nation.

She called for a society guided by truth, justice, and genuine compassion, inspired by the teachings and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

“Ang lahat ng ating ginagawa ay para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” the vice president concluded, encouraging unity and service as foundations for a stronger, more prosperous Philippines.
