Vice President Sara Duterte will travel to Hong Kong from November 6 to 8, 2026, to attend various engagements, including an event organized by the Filipino community, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced Friday.
In a public statement, the OVP confirmed that Duterte had secured permission from the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 98 to travel abroad.
"The Office further confirms that the Vice President has secured an order dated November 3, 2026, from the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City, Branch 98, granting permission for the intended travel abroad," the OVP said.
"Likewise, the Office of the President issued a corresponding travel authority," it added.
The OVP also clarified that Duterte would shoulder all expenses for the trip using her personal funds, emphasizing that no government money, resources, or facilities would be used.
The Hong Kong visit comes ahead of the scheduled resumption of Duterte's impeachment trial on November 9, when her defense team is expected to begin presenting its evidence and witnesses.
The impeachment proceedings will focus on Article II of the complaint, which accuses the Vice President of alleged unexplained wealth.
Duterte's camp has submitted a list of witnesses for the November 9 to 13 hearings as part of its defense.
Meanwhile, the OVP has yet to disclose further details about the Vice President's other scheduled engagements in Hong Kong.
