Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday, March 13, described the ongoing impeachment proceedings as a politically motivated attack aimed at protecting certain individuals and advancing personal and foreign interests.

In a statement, Duterte singled out several figures allegedly involved in controversies, including an official reportedly struggling with substance abuse, a congressman accused of orchestrating the misuse of flood control funds, and a legislator believed to be positioning herself for a future presidential run.

She also expressed concern over the treatment of Madriaga, an alleged kidnapper who reportedly fabricated his account of events. Calls for special treatment of Madriaga in the House of Representatives, Duterte said, are “a grave insult” to the minor victim traumatized by his actions.

While governments worldwide grapple with energy and commodity shocks affecting their citizens, Duterte argued that the Philippine House of Representatives and the Office of the President remain focused on what she described as a “political nemesis” who refuses to comply with corrupt practices.

The vice president warned that the situation represents another insult—this time directed at overseas Filipino workers, the poor, and countless families who may face deeper hardship due to the combined effects of domestic politics and global crises.

“God save the Philippines. Please,” Duterte concluded.
