Vice President Sara Duterte called President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV “traitors” and accused them of helping the International Criminal Court (ICC) pursue the case against her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Speaking at the “Free Duterte Now” rally, a gathering of Duterte supporters in The Hague, Netherlands, on Wednesday, July 29, Duterte called the ICC a “tuta,” criticizing what she described as Marcos and Trillanes’ alleged roles in the filing of charges against and arrest of her father.
“How do we characterize Trillanes and Marcos in relation to the ICC?... They are traitors to a Filipino and to the country,” Duterte said, echoing the sentiment of her supporters.
“But more than that, ang ICC ay tuta nina Trillanes at Marcos,” she added.
Duterte also questioned the ICC’s jurisdiction over the Philippines, saying the tribunal has no authority over the country and that its only case involving the Philippines concerns her father.
“The ICC has no other case except for the case of President Rodrigo Duterte. And they found Marcos, Trillanes, and money in the Philippine case,” she said.
She also alleged that money was involved in the former president’s arrest and transfer to ICC custody.
“Maleta ang pinag-uusapan dito. Where is the justice in all this?” Duterte said.
“There is no justice for the Philippines. There is no justice for the Filipinos. And there is no justice for former President Rodrigo Duterte,” she added.
Duterte further criticized the investigation into her father’s bloody anti-drug campaign, questioning the number of deaths allegedly linked to the drug war and the murder charges filed against the former president.
The ICC has accused Duterte of crimes against humanity in connection with alleged killings during his administration’s anti-drug campaign.
Duterte also defended her father’s drug war policy, saying the government had a policy of “zero tolerance” toward illegal drugs.
The former president was arrested in March 2025 pursuant to an ICC warrant and was subsequently transferred to The Hague, where he remains in ICC custody.
