Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday urged motorists and riders to observe stricter discipline and practice responsible driving as the country marks Land Transportation Safety Month this May.
In a video message, Duterte said the Office of the Vice President joins the observance, which highlights road safety awareness among drivers and riders. Duterte also recognized the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and volunteer motorcycle rider groups for their efforts in promoting road safety through seminars and campaigns focused on defensive driving. “I commend the Land Transportation Office and our volunteer motorcycle rider groups for leading seminars on defensive driving and road safety campaigns,” she said. The Vice President also reminded riders to always wear helmets, and urged motorists to avoid distractions and never drive under the influence of alcohol. She likewise called for greater attention to pedestrians and the safety of children on the road.
