House prosecution panel spokesperson Rep. Zia Adiong flagged Vice President Sara Duterte’s reported receipt of compensation from the Davao City government in 2023 as a possible violation of the Constitution.
During the prosecution press conference following Day 36 of Duterte’s impeachment trial, Adiong said a sitting vice president should not receive compensation from any government subdivision or local government unit (LGU).
Adiong cited Duterte’s 2023 Form 2316, which reportedly showed that she received more than ₱1 million in compensation from the Davao City government, or approximately ₱82,000 per month.
The prosecution said the reported compensation raises questions over the constitutional restrictions on a vice president receiving other compensation from the government while in office.
