Vice President Sara Duterte said she has not finalized any Senate slate for the 2028 presidential elections, stressing that discussions remain informal and no official lineup has been formed.

In an interview in Davao during the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan at the Veterans Memorial Monument in Davao, Duterte clarified that while some individuals have expressed interest in joining her potential political lineup, there are no formal agreements or finalized lists.

“Wala, wala. Wala pa akong senators. Merong mga nagpahayag na interesado sila na magsama kami kung sakaling ako ay tumakbo at sila rin ay tatakbo,” she said, adding that any current discussions do not yet constitute an official coalition or slate.

When pressed to name possible allies, the Vice President declined, citing concerns over the current political climate.

“Hindi ko sila papangalanan kasi unang-una matindi at mainit ang politika ngayon… lahat ng lumalapit… ay hinaharas, hinahadlangan, pina-filean ng kaso, inaatake,” Duterte explained, noting that public identification could expose supporters to political pressure and legal challenges.

She also emphasized that no candidacies have been formally filed yet, as the country is still awaiting the official filing period ahead of the elections.

“Pangalawa, dahil kaming lahat ay presumptive candidates pa lang… wala pa namang filing of candidacy,” she said.

Duterte added that decisions will become clearer once the official filing period begins next year, underscoring that current talks remain preliminary and subject to change.

Her remarks highlight the early and fluid nature of political alignments ahead of the 2028 elections, as potential alliances continue to take shape amid a highly charged political environment.
