Vice President Sara Duterte delivered a brief but defiant statement to the media at the Senate on Tuesday, July 7, ahead of the second day of her impeachment trial, declaring that she would remain steadfast despite the legal and political battle she faces.
Addressing reporters shortly after arriving at the Senate to meet with her legal team, Duterte said, "In this bloodbath and bludgeoning, I will be bloodied but unbowed."
Earlier, Duterte's spokesperson, Atty. Michael Poa confirmed that the Vice President went to the Senate solely to confer with her defense team and would not attend the impeachment proceedings, as reported by RH Henry Uri.
Her visit was intended to discuss legal preparations as the Senate impeachment court continues hearing the case against her.
The impeachment trial entered its second day amid heightened political tensions, with prosecutors and the defense continuing to lay out their respective arguments before the Senate impeachment court.
