The Visayas Grid has again been placed under Yellow Alert on Tuesday, September 22, according to the latest update from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The Yellow Alert is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an available capacity of 2,504 megawatts (MW) against a projected peak demand of 2,419 MW.

NGCP reported that 13 power plants are on forced outage, while 16 plants are operating at derated capacities, resulting in a total of 928.4 MW of unavailable capacity.

Among the factors contributing to the Yellow Alert are the unavailability of the Visayas’ large coal plants TVI 1, PEDC 3, and KSPC 2, the derated capacity of CEDC 3 at 36 MW, and the limited power import from the Mindanao Grid.
