In volleyball, the role of a libero is often unseen but extremely vital to a team’s success.
In an exclusive interview on DZRH TV's Matchpoint, Vince Lorenzo, AEP Cabstar player and Next Level VolleyCamp coach, highlighted that consistency and discipline are key to excelling in this position. Despite not scoring points, a libero plays a crucial role in defense and ball control.
For Vince, success comes from focusing on his responsibility on the court—receiving, digging, and stabilizing the team’s defense. He emphasizes that a libero must cover the entire court and always be ready to save every possible ball. This mindset allows him to contribute even without being a primary scorer.
Beyond technical skills, Vince stresses the importance of positive energy and leadership inside the court. A libero helps lift teammates’ morale, especially during tough matches, by staying calm and encouraging others. This mental strength helps the entire team stay focused under pressure.
He also believes that communication and teamwork are essential, especially when playing with younger teammates. Sharing experience and staying open to learning helps build stronger team chemistry and performance.
In the end, Vince encourages aspiring players to work hard, stay humble, and trust the process. He reminds them that every role in volleyball matters, and greatness comes from dedication, not just recognition.
