Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Bringas Dizon on Monday took his oath as the new head of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), following his appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

"He seems he's done a very good job sa DOTR and I think he's already set the stage for all of the things that we need to do. So pwede na niya iwanan and go to public work because he's also familiar with the workings of the Department of Public Works," Marcos said during the awarding ceremony of Turismo Asenso Loan Program in Taguig City.

Former Undersecretary Giovanni Lopez has formally taken his oath as the Acting Secretary of DOTr.

Dizon replaces outgoing DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, who resigned on August 31, amid allegations of anomalies and corruption linked to flood control projects within the agency.

"I think it was Secretary Bonoan who said that basically that he took responsibility because all of these things happened, all of these problems happened under his watch. So under the principle of command responsibility, he felt that he should lead this force," the President added.

Several lawmakers welcomed Dizon’s appointment, praising his track record and expressing confidence in his ability to lead the DPWH during a crucial period for the administration’s infrastructure program.

Meanwhile, Malacañang has yet to announce who will head the independent commission tasked to investigate irregularities in flood control projects.

The body has been instructed by Marcos to identify those responsible, ensure accountability, and help restore public trust in infrastructure spending.

According RH Leth Narciso's report on "Damdaming Bayan," Palace said that the creation of the commission reflect the administration’s firm resolve to fight corruption, strengthen institutions, and deliver honest and efficient public service.
