The Commission on Appointments (CA) has officially confirmed the ad interim appointment of Vince Dizon as Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), following the endorsement of the CA Committee on Transportation.
Dizon's confirmation came after a more than three-hour-long hearing on Tuesday, June 3 where members of the committee questioned him on a range of transportation-related projects.
These included ongoing efforts to rehabilitate major roadways such as EDSA, as well as upgrades to the country’s ports and airports.
Secretary Dizon expressed his appreciation to the committee members for the endorsement.
“Madam Chair, I move to the plenary for the commission to confirm the ad interim appointment of Secretary Vince Dizon as Secretary of the Department of Transportation,” said CA Majority Floor Leader Luis Raymund "LRay" Villafuerte Jr.
The motion to bring Dizon’s confirmation to the Senate plenary was quickly approved.
Meanwhile, the scheduled hearings for Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jaybee Jay Ruiz were suspended due to lack of material time.
Of the three Cabinet officials scheduled for CA deliberations on Tuesday, only Dizon's appointment was endorsed for plenary confirmation.
During the hearing, Senator Joel Villanueva raised the question of whether Dizon had submitted a courtesy resignation amid the change in administration.
In response, Dizon shared that Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin had informed him he would remain in his position.
"I did get a call po from a executive secretary that the president did not accept my courtesy resignation,” he said.
Dizon was appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as DOTr chief on February 21, 2025.
