Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto has called for unity, resilience, and continued public service in a video message to supporters, as the province remains under public attention due to ongoing discussions on government aid distribution and alleged irregularities.

In her message addressed to her supporters, Santos-Recto expressed gratitude for their prayers and encouragement while acknowledging challenges in governance.

“Hello there, my Vilmates!… Nagwo-worry kayo sa akin. Don’t worry, yeah. I’m facing some challenges,” she said, adding that she remains focused on serving the public together with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.

She emphasized that public service often comes with criticism, noting: “You really cannot please everybody. Damn if you do, damn if you don’t.”

The governor urged supporters to remain positive and united, stressing that she and her team continue to serve “from the heart” and seek guidance through prayer. She also called on different groups of supporters—from Gen Z to long-time followers—to continue standing together as one community.

“Let’s not be part of the problem. Let’s all be part of the solution,” she said, underscoring the need to focus on constructive action amid political and social challenges.

Santos-Recto’s statement comes as Batangas is also facing renewed public scrutiny following a reported congressional move by Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste, who has called for an investigation into the alleged irregular distribution of ₱16.8 million worth of aid intended for 84 barangays in the province.

According to reports, Leviste is seeking a formal congressional probe to clarify discrepancies and conflicting accounts surrounding the implementation of the aid program, which has drawn attention from local officials and barangay representatives.

The issue forms part of broader discussions on transparency in government assistance programs in Batangas, with stakeholders urging clearer guidelines and accountability mechanisms in the distribution of public funds.

Despite the controversies, Santos-Recto reiterated her appeal for unity and public cooperation, encouraging residents to stay focused on positive action and collective progress.

“Mabuhay ang Pilipino! Mabuhay ang Batangueño!” she concluded.
