

Eleven individuals, including several minors, were injured after a Viking ride suddenly collapsed at an amusement park inside San Jacinto Town Plaza in Pangasinan on the evening of December 24, 2025.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of San Jacinto, the incident occurred at around 8:36 p.m. when the ride reportedly split in the middle while in operation. Responding teams from the MDRRMO, Philippine National Police (PNP), and Rural Health Unit (RHU) immediately secured the area and provided emergency medical assistance to the victims.
The injured included a 37-year-old male, a 19-year-old female, and nine minors aged between 7 and 17 years old. All victims sustained minor injuries and were transported to Manaoag Community Hospital, where they were treated as outpatients and later discharged.
Authorities identified the amusement ride operator as a 23-year-old male from Lingayen, Pangasinan, while the ride manager is a resident of Binmaley, Pangasinan. The management of the amusement park and the parents or guardians of the injured minors were immediately informed following the incident.
The PNP has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the mechanical failure and to assess possible safety violations. Operations of the Viking ride have been suspended pending a thorough inspection and clearance from authorities.
Local officials urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any safety concerns, especially during the holiday season when amusement rides are in high demand.
