Filipino-American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo just dropped a touching music video shedding light on the lives of the children living in Gaza and other areas affected by war.
Olivia covered The Magnetic Field’s 1999 track, “The Book of Love,” as part of War Child Records’ latest charity and collaborative album, “HELP(2).” The video, directed by Billy Boyd Cope and under the creative direction of Jonathan Glazer, offers a closer look at the lives of children living in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen.
The videos featured were all filmed by children living in conflict zones, capturing the tenderness of the lyrics and realities that they face.
However, the clips do not delve into their struggles, as the kids filmed themselves engaging in mundane activities like running around with their peers, exploring open fields, the roads covered in rubble, and other places.
“The Book of Life” music video dropped the same day as the “HELP(2)” album. In addition to Olivia, it features recordings by the Arctic Monkeys, Damon Albarn, Beabadoobee, Big Thief, Arlo Parks, and others.
Proceeds from the collaborative album would support people suffering in areas such as Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“HELP(2) is out now and every stream and purchase supports War Child UK in their efforts to help children living through the unthinkable. So many wonderful artists I admire are on the album and I am honored to have been a part of it,” Olivia wrote in her Instagram Stories.
