Television host and comedian Vice Ganda has apologized to viewers after a joke made during the "It's Showtime" segment "Memerimar" sparked widespread criticism on social media.

During Saturday's live episode of the noontime show, Vice acknowledged that some members of the program's "Madlang People" were offended by certain jokes aired on the show.

"It has come to our attention that some of our Madlang People did not like or were offended by some of our jokes here on 'It's Showtime,' as well as those made in 'Memerimar.'"

Vice emphasized that the show's goal has always been to entertain its audience and that it never intended to offend or hurt anyone.

"The last thing we want is to displease you or fail to make our Madlang People happy. We acknowledge your sentiments, and we sincerely apologize. We will try to do better."

The comedian also thanked viewers for their continued support.

During the segment, Vice Ganda spat water onto Johaira's face, a member of the girl group Baby Dolls, as part of a slapstick routine. Moments later, the host quipped, "Anong nangyari sa 'yo? Ba't nagputik ka?" ("What happened to you? Why do you look like you're covered in mud?").

The remark quickly went viral, with many social media users interpreting it as a reference to Johaira's skin tone. The incident sparked online discussions, with critics arguing that the joke crossed the line from comedy to humiliation and calling on the show to exercise greater sensitivity in its humor.
