

A vendor was shot dead by an unidentified suspect along Globo de Oro Street in Quiapo, Manila, on Thursday night, October 16.
According to the initial investigation by Manila Police District – Station 14 , at around 7:30 p.m., the victim and his wife were tending to their goods at their sari-sari store when the suspect suddenly approached and shot the victim in the back of the head with an unidentified caliber of firearm. The victim died instantly at the scene.
After the shooting, the suspect fled toward Gunao Street but was chased down by residents who caught and beat him severely.
Personnel from the Palanca Police Community Precinct (PCP), led by Police Lieutenant Abelardo Aguilar, arrived and were able to de-escalate the situation.
There is no reported information regarding the suspect’s motive.
The victim was identified as 42 year-old man, named Nasroding Macatimbul, a vendor and resident of Barangay 384, Quiapo, Manila City.
Jumaira Macalangun, the victim’s wife, positively identified the suspect.
Police immediately placed the suspect under arrest and brought him to the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) for treatment.
According to doctors, the suspect sustained serious head injuries from the beating inflicted by residents, preventing investigators from immediately questioning him.
Police continue to monitor the suspect’s condition, and said a murder charge will be filed against him before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities have considered the case solved.
Meanwhile, the victim’s remains were brought to the Manila Golden Mosque and Cultural Center for Islamic burial rites.
Based on the cursory examination on the corpse, the victim sustained gunshot wounds in the nape and frontal head.
