Additional missiles and allied systems, particularly from the United States (US), will be brought to the Philippines and used in training, domain awareness, and its collective defense posture, said the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In a Wednesday report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa, the AFP said this is in line with the move agreed upon during the 12th Bilateral Strategic Dialogue between the Philippines and the US.

Speaking to DZRH, AFP Spokesperson Col. Francel Padilla said this would contribute to their mission to preserve the country’s sovereignty and protect its territory, as well as maintain peace and order.

“The Armed Forces of the Philippines supports initiatives that enhance our defense capability, interoperability, and readiness in accordance with existing agreements and Philippine laws,” Padilla said.

“Any cooperative defense activities are intended to strengthen training, improve domain awareness, and support our collective defense posture. These efforts contribute to our mission of protecting Philippine sovereignty, securing our national territory, and maintaining peace and stability in the region,” she added.

It is stated in the joint statement between the Philippines and the US that, as allies, they have committed to multiplying the deployment of cutting-edge missile and unmanned systems in the country.

China previously protested against the US sending the country an Army Typhon Medium-Range Capability Missile in 2024, and a NMESIS Anti-Ship Missile during the Balikatan Exercises in 2025.

The Department of National Defense (DND) has yet to release a statement regarding the particular arms and systems to be brought to the Philippines.
