More than 70 devotees were injured during the Traslacion 2026 as they gathered to welcome the Andas of Poong Hesus Nazareno at the Taft corner of Finance Road on Friday morning, January 9.

According to the Philippine Red Cross – Rizal Chapter team leader Marvin J. Santos, 72 cases had been recorded: 48 minor injuries, 21 under observation, and at least one major case involving a laceration on the right foot, as of 8:30 AM.

Two of the injured were rushed to an orthopedic hospital after sustaining foot injuries.

RH Val Gonzales reports that the incident occurred as the procession moved past the area, where the crowd’s end reportedly collided, resulting in several injuries.

“Medyo mataas ‘yong na-cater namin ngayon kumpara last year,” said a Red Cross first-aid responder.

First aid teams have been stationed along the route, from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo, to provide immediate assistance. An emergency mobile hospital was also set up at the Kartilya near Manila City Hall.

Authorities and medical teams continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of participants during the annual procession.
