The body of an unidentified man believed to be between 40 and 50 years old was discovered Tuesday afternoon at the Quiapo Pumping Station in Manila.

According to authorities, an employee of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) assigned to the pumping station was preparing to remove accumulated garbage at around 2:00 p.m. when the lifeless body was found face down and mixed in with the debris.

The MMDA immediately coordinated with the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 14, whose personnel quickly responded to the scene. Police have since secured the area and informed the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), who will conduct a thorough investigation.

Authorities said the victim has yet to be identified, and the cause of death remains unknown pending forensic examination. Police are also reviewing possible CCTV footage in the area and are appealing to the public for any information that may help identify the victim or shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
