The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a generally peaceful security situation nationwide as millions of Filipinos observe Undas 2026.
According to the report by RH Edniel Prrosa, PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. made the assessment on Sunday, November 1, attributing the peaceful observance to the police force's early security preparations and deployment.
Nartatez said the PNP remains under full alert until November 3, with around 141,000 police personnel deployed in key areas, including cemeteries, transport terminals, and other places of convergence. Authorities have also assessed the security threat during the observance as low-level.
In Marikina City, more than 10,000 people visited six cemeteries, with around 9,000 recorded at Loyola Memorial Park alone, according to Marikina City Police Chief Police Colonel Jenny Tecson.
Despite the large crowd, Tecson said the situation remained manageable, with no untoward incidents reported as of Sunday.
Meanwhile, around 1,000 visitors were recorded at Barangka Public Cemetery, 1,100 at Aglipay Cemetery, and nearly 1,000 across three other cemeteries in the city.
In Mandaluyong City, light rain was reported, while one lane of Boni Avenue fronting Aglipayan Cemetery was closed to motorists. The city government also opened a zipper lane to help ease traffic.
In San Juan City, vendors and vehicles occupied portions of Bonny Serrano Avenue near San Juan Cemetery, where around 30,000 visitors were expected on Sunday.
Authorities continue to implement traffic management measures and security operations as more people are expected to visit cemeteries and memorial parks through Monday, November 2.
