MANILA, Philippines - The United Kingdom’s reigning monarch, King Charles III, extended a message of sympathy to the victims and those affected by the typhoons and floods that hit the Philippines recently.

In a message shared by the British Embassy in the Philippines, King Charles sent a message of “concern” for the victims of the recent calamities that hit the country.

“My wife and I have been deeply concerned by the news of the typhoons and floods that have affected the Philippines in recent weeks and are profoundly saddened to hear of further loss of life,” King Charles said in a statement.

King Charles also expressed sadness for the victims of the two earthquakes that hit Cebu and Davao Oriental last October.

“I am well aware that the suffering has been compounded by the devastating effects of two earthquakes in October and our hearts go out to all those who are so cruelly affected by these catastrophic natural disasters,” he added.

He particularly wanted to convey his “deepest and most heartfelt sympathy” to the families of all those who have lost their loved ones.

He also wanted to “pay a special tribute” to the emergency services who have suffered their own tragic losses as they have assisted in the rescue efforts.

“Our thoughts and continued prayers are with all who are enduring such appalling suffering at this time,” he stated.
