The University of the East (UE) in Manila evacuated students and staff, and ordered security checks of all campus buildings after receiving an alleged bomb threat on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page, UE-Manila announced the suspension of all face-to-face classes effective 1 p.m. as authorities addressed the security concern.

Asynchronous classes were scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., while the College of Law and Graduate School continued their classes through synchronous online sessions.

The university advised students to coordinate with their respective instructors for further instructions.

According to the university's official student publication, UE officials assured the academic community that they were addressing the situation and coordinating with designated personnel to ensure students' safety.

“Everything is under control, manatiling kalmado,” said Rogelio Espiritu, director of the UE Office of Extension and Community Outreach.

The university said all buildings would undergo security checks as a precautionary measure.

UE urged students to remain calm and prioritize their safety as authorities responded to the threat.

This is a developing story.
