

MANILA, Philippines – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has allotted urgent relief aid to families affected by the earthquake that struck Cebu Province last 30 September 2025.
According to the Embassy of the UAE in Manila, the assistance has been dispatched by the UAE Aid Agency to deliver relief for approximately 40,000 families impacted by the earthquake.
“The UAE’s response reflects the country’s humanitarian efforts and its global commitment towards communities impacted by natural disasters and crises. It also underscores the UAE’s dedication to alleviating humanitarian suffering, accelerating early recovery, and reinforcing stability,” the UAE Embassy stated.
In a statement, His Excellency Mohamed Obaid Alqataam Alzaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, affirmed the UAE’s unwavering support for the Philippines, highlighting the close relations between the two countries for more than 50 years.
“His Excellency emphasized that the provision of aid follows the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership and aligns with the approach of the UAE government and people to stand in solidarity with all the countries worldwide, particularly during crises,” the Embassy said.
The delivery of aid, consisting mostly of food, blankets, hygiene kits and drinking water, was overseen by the UAE Embassy in Manila, in coordination with the relevant local entities and authorities, to support efforts implemented by the Philippine[s] government to address the repercussions of the disaster, the Embassy added.

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Cebu province which resulted in 72 deaths, according to data from the Philippine government.
Data also showed that 6,925 people were evacuated while approximately 670,000 people were affected by the earthquake.
Meanwhile, the UAE Embassy extended a message of solidarity to the Philippines, after a second earthquake hit the southern part of the Philippines, particularly in Davao Oriental on October 10, 2025.
The powerful earthquake struck off the coast of the municipality of Manay and a number of aftershocks were recorded days after.
“The UAE Embassy expressed its solidarity with the Philippines following the two earthquakes that struck the southern part of the country, resulting in a number of deaths,” it said.
“In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) conveyed the UAE’s sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of the Philippines over this tragedy,” the Embassy added.
