

MANILA, Philippines – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues its support for the affected communities in Sarangani, after the province was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on June 8, 2026.
According to the UAE Embassy in Manila, the UAE response team headed to the most affected areas in Sarangani province, together with UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Qatam Alzaabi, to distribute around 700 food parcels and 500 gallons of potable water on Friday.
“This humanitarian response reflects the UAE's commitment to continuing its active humanitarian role in supporting people affected by natural disasters around the world and reinforcing the values of solidarity and international cooperation,” the UAE Embassy stated.

The UAE’s response plan will come “in phases”, including the distribution of more than 20,000 food parcels and 20,000 gallons of drinking water to meet the needs of affected residents and help families recover from the impact of the earthquake, the Embassy said.
The Embassy also mentioned that the UAE response team also conducted field visits to a number of affected areas and directly assessed the conditions and humanitarian needs of families to ensure the greatest possible impact on the ground.

Earlier, UAE announced that it will provide relief for those affected by the earthquake through the UAE Aid Agency.
“This urgent UAE response stems from the country’s international responsibility toward communities and peoples facing natural disasters and crises. We aim to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the earthquake and help with early recovery and stability in coordination with international organisations and relevant local authorities,” Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency stated.
The UAE, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), expressed its solidarity with the Philippines following the earthquake that struck Mindanao region in the south of the country, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries.
The UAE also extended its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of the Philippines, wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured, UAE MOFA's statement said.
