Tropical Cyclone ‘Opong’ has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning, September 27.

According to PAGASA, its last location was spotted 645 km west of Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 150 km/h.

It is currently moving west-northwest at a speed of 35 km/h and is causing strong winds that stretch up to 400 km from its center.

As of 11 a.m., no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is in effect. However, Opong is enhancing the Southwest Monsoon, bringing strong to gale-force gusts, especially in coastal and elevated areas over Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Occidental today.

Moreover, Opong is expected to move west-northwest toward northern Vietnam and may strengthen further as it nears land.

While it no longer directly affects the Philippines, PAGASA still urged the public to stay alert and monitor advisories from authorities.
