A weather disturbance with international name ‘Dujuan’ has intensified into a typhoon and is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said Saturday.

As of 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, Dujuan was located 1,920 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h, with gusts of up to 150 km/h. It was moving westward at 15 km/h.

Dujuan was previously monitored as a low pressure area (LPA) designated LPA 09d before strengthening into a typhoon.

Meanwhile, earlier as of 2 a.m., PAGASA was also monitoring another low pressure area, LPA 09f, outside the PAR. It was last located 140 kilometers (87 miles) south of Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan.

PAGASA said LPA 09f was unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The weather bureau advised the public to continue monitoring its latest updates.
