Two motorcycle riders were injured after their vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier along Tayuman, Immaculada Street in Manila early Wednesday morning, August 5.

According to a report by RH Tina Nolasco, witnesses said the accident happened at around 5:50 a.m. in front of Immaculada Cathedral School. An ambulance arrived at the scene at about 6:25 a.m., more than 30 minutes after the crash.

First responders found both riders with visible injuries, including head wounds and bleeding. One of the victims, identified only as ‘David’, was reportedly unconscious when rescuers arrived.

“Unconscious yung si David na kinikilala. Nakahandusay sa kalsada, ang tama niya ay head injury with continuous bleeding,” a first responder said.

“Ang ginawa namin para hindi siya makatulog [ay] kinakausap namin and then habang kinakausap namin fine-first aid na namin yung mga open wounds niya.”

“Habang nagaantay kami sa ambulansya, ilang ambulansya na yung tinawagan namin. Tumawag na rin yung iba sa 911, sa Manila DRRMO, and then Red Cross. Ang unang dumating na ambulansya is Red Cross,” the responder added.

Another witness, a student nurse, said one victim was lying on the ground while the other was seated, both suffering from open wounds on the face and chin.

The medical student who happened to be in the area also assisted responders in providing initial treatment.

“Tumulong na rin ako para maglagay ng pressure sa baba and tumawag ng ambulance kasi medyo nagpapanic din yung iba,” the student nurse said.

Both victims were taken to a hospital for further treatment as authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, though a first responder said there was suspicion that the riders may have been under the influence of alcohol.
