Two Filipinos have been reportedly arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for allegedly posting or "sharing videos and other online content related to the recent attacks and air defense interceptions in Dubai."

In a joint statement issued Sunday, March 15, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai said they are closely monitoring reports that Filipino nationals were among foreign nationals detained for allegedly sharing videos and other online materials connected to recent security incidents.

"The Philippine Embassy and Consulate General fully respect the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates and its right to enforce its national security, cybercrime, and public order laws," the diplomatic mission stations said in a statement.

"UAE authorities have publicly reminded the public that publishing or sharing misleading or fabricated security‑related content, including videos of air defence interceptions, attacks on landmarks, or AI‑generated false footage, is a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment and substantial fines," the Embassy and Consulate said.

The embassy and consulate said they have formally requested official confirmation and specific details from UAE authorities regarding the identities, current status, and legal circumstances surrounding the two Filipinos reportedly involved.

Initial reports indicated that the Filipinos were among several individuals arrested for allegedly publishing or circulating digital content related to strikes and air defense interceptions in Dubai.

An online report earlier claimed that two Filipinas were among at least 25 individuals detained in connection with the incident.

The Philippine Embassy and Consulate General emphasized that the safety and welfare of Filipinos in the UAE remain a top priority of the Philippine government as they continue to coordinate closely with local authorities while respecting the sovereignty of the host country.

The embassy reminded Filipinos in the UAE to "exercise utmost caution and responsibility in their use of social media and messaging platforms."

They advised Filipino nationals to "refrain from recording, posting, forwarding, or commenting on unverified or sensitive content," avoid spreading rumors or speculative information, and rely only on official announcements and credible news sources for updates on ongoing security situations.

The embassy and consulate said they will continue to monitor developments and provide appropriate assistance while awaiting official confirmation from UAE authorities.
