Two men who rushed to help an injured woman were themselves hurt after being struck by a speeding taxi in Barangay Botong, Oton, Iloilo Province, police said.

Investigators said the woman was first hit by a motorcycle after crossing a bridge. Her two friends stopped to assist her when a taxi suddenly rammed into them, causing injuries to both rescuers due to the force of the impact.

Police reported that the two male victims sustained abrasions on different parts of their bodies and are now in stable condition.

Initial findings showed that the taxi driver failed to see the victims due to poor visibility, citing darkness in the area and heavy rainfall at the time of the incident.
