Senator Erwin Tulfo, as Chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, has cautioned the public against the unauthorized use of the committee’s name following reports of a supposed hearing scheduled for June 16, 2026.

In an official statement, the committee clarified that no hearing has been set on the said date and that recent announcements made by former Congressman Mike Defensor regarding an alleged proceeding were made without the committee’s approval or authority.

The committee stressed that the information being circulated online is inaccurate and misleading, and reiterated that all legislative proceedings must comply with established Senate protocols, including the required three-day notice and proper agenda distribution before any committee hearing can be conducted.

It further emphasized that the purported hearing failed to meet these requirements, rendering it invalid and unofficial. The committee also stated that former Congressman Defensor is neither a member of the Senate nor the Blue Ribbon Committee and therefore has no authority to announce any official proceedings on its behalf.

The Blue Ribbon Committee underscored that it will not allow its name and institutional integrity to be used for unauthorized disclosures, urging the public to rely only on official advisories and announcements from the Senate of the Philippines and the committee itself.
