Senators Raffy Tulfo and Erwin Tulfo have requested to be excluded from future survey listings for the 2028 presidential and vice presidential elections, citing their focus on legislative work and concerns over growing public reactions to recent poll results.
Sen. Erwin said his brother was surprised upon learning the results of a recent Pulse Asia survey conducted from February 27 to March 2, which showed Sen. Raffy Tulfo tied with Vice President Sara Duterte at 46 percent in a hypothetical one-on-one presidential matchup.
According to Erwin, the survey results have placed unnecessary attention on them, prompting concerns from Sen. Raffy about possible backlash from supporters of leading political figures.
Despite this, he emphasized that both senators remain committed to their duties in the Senate and prefer to focus on public service rather than early election discussions.
Erwin also noted that there are already several potential contenders being mentioned for 2028, including Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Senator Risa Hontiveros, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, former senator Mar Roxas, and former Vice President Leni Robredo.
In the overall Pulse Asia presidential survey commissioned by Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, Vice President Sara Duterte led with 43 percent, followed by Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo with 27 percent, Sen. Raffy Tulfo with 19 percent, Sen. Risa Hontiveros with five percent, Sen. Bam Aquino with two percent, and SILG Jonvic Remulla with 1 percent.
