US President Donald Trump will visit the Philippines in November to attend the 49th ASEAN Summit, Malacañang confirmed Wednesday.
In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro confirmed the announcement by the White House, saying Trump would return to the country for the regional meetings.
“It is confirmed. Pero ‘yung details siguro hindi po sa akin manggagaling,” Castro said, declining to provide further details about the US president’s visit.
The summit will be held from Nov. 16 to 18 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier declared the said three days as special non-working days in Metro Manila in connection with the country’s hosting of the ASEAN and related summits.
Castro did not specify whether Trump’s visit would also involve the possible signing of an agreement related to Pax Silica.
Trump last visited the Philippines in 2017, when the country hosted the ASEAN Summit during his first term as US president.
