Tropical Storm Kalmaegi entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday morning and was given the local name Tino, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

"At 5:30 AM today, Tropical Storm {KALMAEGI} has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was assigned the domestic name TINO," said PAGASA.

As of 3:00 a.m., before entering PAR, the storm's center was estimated at 1,230 km east of Eastern Visayas, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h and gusts of up to 105 km/h. It was moving northwest at 15 km/h.

PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrino said Tropical Storm Tino may make landfall in the Caraga or Eastern Visayas region on Tuesday, November 5. The system may affect a large portion of the Visayas, the northern part of Mindanao, southern Luzon, and areas within the Bicol Region. It may also pass through Palawan by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Based on its current intensity outlook, the storm could strengthen up to Signal No. 4 or reach typhoon category, PAGASA added.

Meanwhile, light rains from the northeast monsoon (amihan) are expected over Batanes and the Ilocos Region today. The shear line will bring thick cloud cover over the eastern portion of Northern Luzon and rain over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera region.

"Mag-ingat po sa mga posibilidad ng mga biglaang pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa dulot nga ng mga pag-ulan na dala ng Shearline" said PAGASA Forecaster Obet Badrino.

Most parts of the country will continue to experience generally fair weather today, though isolated heavy rains may occur in the morning to midday, followed by localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Due to the tropical storm, heavier rains are expected in Eastern Visayas and Caraga by Monday.

PAGASA said a gale warning may be raised over these areas as early as Sunday night or Monday.
