A tropical depression being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has intensified into a tropical storm, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday.
In its 8 a.m. update on November 7, PAGASA said the weather disturbance, formerly known as Low Pressure Area (LPA) 11a, was located 2,400 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.
The tropical storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kph.
It is moving west-northwestward at 30 kph.
PAGASA advised the public to monitor official weather updates for possible developments.
The storm remains outside PAR as of Saturday morning.
