

Tropical Storm ADA has slightly weakened while moving slowly east-northeastward, according to PAGASA on Sunday morning, January 18.
As of the 5:00 a.m. bulletin, the center of ADA’s eye was estimated to be 135 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, or 395 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon (14.2°N, 125.3°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center, with gusts of up to 90 km/h.
PAGASA warns of heavy rainfall in several areas, as outlined in Weather Advisory No. 16. Coastal and upland communities may experience enhanced winds, with minor to moderate impacts expected from gale-force winds in areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, including Catanduanes and eastern Camarines Sur (Caramoan).
Areas under Wind Signal No. 1, including parts of Luzon such as Aurora, Quezon, Polillo Islands, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, and parts of Masbate, as well as Northern Samar in the Visayas, may experience minimal to minor impacts from strong winds.
Strong to gale-force gusts due to the northeast monsoon and ADA’s periphery are expected in the following areas:

Tuesday, January 20: Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Pangasinan, Aurora, Quezon, Romblon, Marinduque, Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental
There is also a minimal to moderate risk of coastal flooding, with storm surges potentially reaching up to 2 meters in low-lying or exposed communities of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon.
Hazards Affecting Coastal Waters
A Gale Warning is in effect over the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon. Very rough seas of up to 4.5 meters are expected along the northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur, and the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes. Mariners are advised to remain in port or seek safe harbor until conditions improve.
Other coastal waters may experience rough to moderate seas, with wave heights ranging from 2 to 4 meters depending on location. Small seacrafts, including motorbancas, are strongly advised against venturing out to sea.
The storm is forecast to move generally northeastward until tomorrow, January 19, before following a looping track over the sea east of Luzon.
ADA is expected to remain a tropical storm over the next few days, weakening into a tropical depression by Tuesday, January 20, and further into a low-pressure area by Thursday, January 22.
