The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression, the PAGASA said Wednesday, September 30.
As of 3 a.m., the tropical depression was located 3,315 kilometers east of Central Luzon, at 15.6°N, 152.6°E.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, with gustiness of up to 55 kph, and was moving west-southwestward at 10 kph.
PAGASA said the tropical depression remains outside the PAR.
Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao on Wednesday.
Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the ITCZ.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA reminded the public to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas affected by moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms.
