Tropical Depression Ada (Nokaen) continues to maintain its strength as it moves eastward over the Philippine Sea on Tuesday, January 20, according to PAGASA.

As of 4:00 AM, the center of Ada was estimated at 675 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h, gusts of up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 1000 hPa.

The weather disturbance is moving eastward at 20 km/h, with strong winds extending up to 340 kilometers from its center.

PAGASA said no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently hoisted in any part of the country.

However, the northeast monsoon enhanced by the periphery of Ada is expected to bring strong to gale-force winds over several areas in the coming days, particularly in coastal and upland locations. These include parts of Northern Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao.

A gale warning remains in effect over the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon, with very rough seas of up to 5 meters expected over the waters of Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. PAGASA warned that sea travel is risky for all types of vessels and advised mariners to remain in port or seek shelter.

Rough to moderate sea conditions are also expected in other coastal areas across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, prompting PAGASA to advise small seacraft operators to avoid venturing out to sea.

PAGASA said Ada is forecast to continue moving eastward before turning south-southeastward from today until Wednesday, January 21.

The tropical depression is expected to gradually weaken due to dry air from the northeast monsoon and may downgrade into a low pressure area by Wednesday, January 21.
