Tropical Cyclone Basyang may weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) in the next 12 hours, the PAGASA said.

“Basyang is temporarily moving west southwestward but will eventually move generally west northwestward throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the center of Basyang may make another landfall over the southern portions of Cebu and Negros Oriental between today and tomorrow (07 February) early morning. Afterwards, it will head towards the southern portion of Panay Island or over Panay Gulf,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected Friday evening to Saturday afternoon due to Tropical Cyclone #BasyangPH and Saturday afternoon to Monday afternoon because of the Shear Line.

Friday night, February 6, and Saturday afternoon, orange rainfall (100-200 mm) was forecasted for the following areas:

  • Negros Occidental

  • Antique

  • Iloilo

  • Guimaras

During the same period, yellow rainfall (50-100 mm) will be experienced in the following areas:

  • Palawan

  • Negros Oriental

  • Cebu

  • Bohol

  • Siquijor

  • Aklan

  • Capiz

Tomorrow afternoon to Sunday afternoon (Feb. 8), yellow rainfall (50-100 mm) is expected over Palawan.

Meanwhile, the Shear Line will be causing yellow rainfall (50-100 mm) over the areas listed below Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon (Feb. 8):

  • Quezon

  • Oriental Mindoro

  • Marinduque

  • Camarines Norte

Yellow rainfall has also been forecasted for Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon (Feb. 9) in the areas below:

  • Quezon

  • Camarines Norte

  • Camarines Sur

  • Catanduanes

Moreover, the Northeast Monsoon will also be bringing strong to gale-force gusts in these areas today:

  • Batanes

  • Babuyan Islands

  • Northern portion of mainland Cagayan

  • Metro Manila

  • CALABARZON

  • Bicol Region

  • MIMAROPA

  • Visayas

  • Dinagat Islands

  • Siargao

  • Bucas Grande Islands

  • Sarangani

  • Basilan

  • Zamboanga del Norte

  • Zamboanga del Sur

  • Davao del Sur

  • Davao Oriental

On February 7, strong to gale-force gusts is also expected in the following areas:

  • Most of Luzon

  • Western Visayas

  • Negros Island Region

  • Zamboanga del Norte

On February 8, the same is forecasted for most of Luzon and Western Visayas.
