Former senator Antonio ‘Sonny’ Trillanes IV alleged that Vice President Sara Duterte and several members of the Duterte family received a total of P181.65 million from an alleged drug lord identified as Samuel Uy, who is also a political contributor of former President Rodrigo Duterte and a business partner of Michael Yang.
In an affidavit submitted to the House Committee on Justice, Trillanes claimed that former president Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, Honeylet Avanceña, and Veronica “Kitty” Duterte either received or encashed millions of pesos worth of manager’s checks and personal checks from Uy.
According to the affidavit, former president Duterte allegedly received a total of P15.65 million through multiple transactions between 2011 and 2013. VP Sara Duterte, meanwhile, allegedly received P22.32 million across several deposits made to her bank accounts during a similar period.
Trillanes further claimed that Rep. Paolo Duterte received P38.81 million through a series of deposits into accounts in different banks, while Sebastian Duterte allegedly received the largest share amounting to P51.58 million. Avanceña, for her part, was said to have received P53.27 million through multiple transactions.
The affidavit also noted that some of the bank deposits for the former president, VP Sara, and Rep. Paolo were coursed through accounts bearing the same account number.
Trillanes described Uy as a known political contributor of the former president and an alleged associate of Michael Yang, who has been linked to previous controversies, including those involving Pharmally and Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
In addition to the P181.65 million allegedly received by members of the Duterte family, Trillanes claimed that over P2.4 billion flowed through joint bank accounts associated with the former President Duterte and VP Sara from 2003 to 2016.
"Si Rodrigo Duterte at ang kanyang pamilya, ay may mga joint bank accounts na may bilyun-bilyon na dumaloy na pera," Trillanes stated in his affidavit.
"Sa aming pagsusuma, lumabas na may kabuuang halaga na P2,407,272,103.75," he added.
The former senator also identified Joseph de Mesa as the source of documents detailing the alleged bank transactions.
