Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV announced on Wednesday that he and a civil society group filed a plunder and graft case against Vice President Sara Duterte before the Office of the Ombudsman.
“Ngayong umaga, ako, kasama ang grupong The Silent Majority, ay nagsampa sa Ombudsman ng kasong plunder at graft laban kay Sara Duterte,” he said in a Facebook post.

The complaint stems from the alleged misuse of confidential funds during Duterte’s tenure as Department of Education (DepEd) secretary and Davao City mayor.
It alleges that ₱650 million in confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and DepEd were misappropriated, while another ₱2.7 billion was allegedly squandered from Davao City’s confidential funds. In addition, there are reports of Duterte making ₱7-billion unliquidated cash advances as DepEd secretary, among other anomalies.
“Tayo ay nananawagan sa Ombudsman na bigyan ng mabilis na aksyon ang mga kasong naisampa sa kanya para mapanagot sya sa kanyang kasalanan sa ating bayan,” Trillanes wrote.
He also said that Duterte should provide a proper account regarding the allegations of corruption and abuse of power stacked against her, according to a report on Balansyado.
The Vice President on Monday said she believes her imminent, second impeachment complaint will simply be another “fundraising” activity among lawmakers.
