

A delivery rider died after being crushed under a fallen power line post and a tree on Sunday, August 9.
According to a social media post by Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares, the victim was rushed to the Rizal Provincial Hospital System (RPHS) Antipolo Annex 2 for medical treatment.
However, in an updated report, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away this afternoon.
The rider was seeking shelter from the torrential southwest monsoon or “Habagat” rains underneath a tree along Circumferential Road in Barangay San Roque, Rizal, when a nearby cement utility pole and tree collapsed on top of him.
Rescuers and response teams promptly conducted clearing operations in the area.
As of 2:00 p.m., the state weather bureau, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), announced that Tropical Storm “Peilou” (international name) is being monitored beyond the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
