The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved a 5 percent discount on toll fees for qualified truckers delivering agricultural products and other basic goods, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Tuesday.

The TRB said the discount aims to aid the food sector amid the outset of the Super El Niño, accompanied by rising fuel prices.

The discount will take effect on November 1 until November 30.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) began registrations for agri truckers who wish to avail of the program as early as October 16.

Previously, DA Undersecretary Arrey Perez appealed for an extension on the toll holiday for agri truckers, given prolonged high fuel prices.
