The Philippines and Paraguay have signed an agreement that will remove visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports, paving the way for easier travel between the two countries.

Officials said the visa waiver is intended to strengthen bilateral relations and promote greater cooperation in tourism, trade, and investment. The full implementing guidelines have yet to be released.

The agreement comes as both nations work to broaden engagement beyond their regions. The Philippines and Paraguay have maintained diplomatic ties for more than six decades, although neither maintains a resident embassy in the other’s capital.

The development follows earlier comments from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who expressed plans to visit Paraguay “soon,” after hosting Paraguayan President Santiago Peña in Manila.

In a social media post, Tourism Philippines welcomed the agreement, describing it as a milestone that will make travel easier for Paraguayan visitors and Filipinos once final rules are issued.

Government officials have yet to announce the start date of the visa-free arrangement or provide details on any conditions attached to its implementation.
